Austin Kane received a Masters of Environmental Management from Duke University’s Nicholas School of the Environment. She has over 12 years of natural resource management, policy, and planning experience. Austin has been working with CMI since January 2014 as a Project Associate, primarily working with the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (DGIF) to update the Virginia Wildlife Action Plan. She is also working with the Virginia Department of Forestry and the New Jersey Audubon on sponsored projects. Prior to joining CMI, Austin worked for the National Wildlife Federation’s Mid-Atlantic Regional Center as its Science and Policy Manager for more than 5 years. While there she worked with many state fish and wildlife agencies, federal agencies, and other partners on projects related to planning for impacts of climate change on wildlife and habitats as well as projects related to Wildlife Action Plans. Her research and planning interests include those related to climate change science and policy, conservation planning, and natural resource management.
