Lorien Koontz is a Private Lands Biologist for the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries and the USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS). Lorien works out of the NRCS office in Halifax, Virginia and serves Southside and Central Virginia. Before joining the “Quail Team” in March of 2014, Lorien worked for over two years as a biologist with Virginia Uranium, Inc. She worked as a professional firefighter/EMT in Danville, Virginia for over four years, and has worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Virginia Department of Forestry, and Virginia Tech College of Natural Resources.

Early successional habitat restoration, and maintenance.

Relationships between farm/industrial practices and wildlife.

Pollinator habitat creation and maintenance.
