Jessica Fitzpatrick is a junior Wildlife Conservation major and a research assistant with the Conservation Management Institute (CMI) at Virginia Tech within the College of Natural Resources and Environment. She came to CMI in May 2016 to participate in and gain experience in a wide variety of research projects. Over the past year Jessica has gained valuable experience working on a variety of research project involving endangered plant species, bats, mussels, and birds. Jessica was particularly intrigued in research involving studying the effects of white nose syndrome on bat populations. She is currently completing research on the federally endangered plant, Michaux’s sumac, as a Virginia Tech Undergraduate Fralin research fellow.
