An estimated one billion birds die in window collisions in the US every year. OneBillion. We want to find ways to reduce the number of collisions, and we want to do it by working with undergraduate students. Our goal is to identify solutions to this problem while providing an opportunity for students to actively participate in field research and gain experience to complement their academic work.

We need your help! We are gathering reports of bird-glass fatalities across Virginia and the surrounding states. To file a report, simply click on the "Report a Collision" link and provide the information requested in the email, or follow the instructions below . That's it! This information will help us understand where and under what conditions bird-glass collisions occur. 

If you would like to file a report, please send an email to "" with the following information in the body of the message:

  • Date
  • Address (or other location information)
  • Species (if known)
  • Whether the collision was fatal
  • Side of the building (North, South, East, West)
