UAS Operations for Natural Resource Applications

The safe use of unmanned automated systems (UAS) and vehicles (UAV) is one of the most exciting technological developments of this decade. CMI is working with partners at Virginia Tech to deploy micro-UAV platforms to permit real-time data capture and analysis. CMI has a Section 333 exemption from the FAA that permits us to operate our UAVs up to an altitude of 500 feet. We have a fixed wing vehicle (Sensefly eBee) and a rotary vehicle (3DR Solo) to cover a range of flight situations and applications.
