Ecosystems

We are actively involved in ecosystem management and applied ecosystem research throughout Virginia, the US, and internationally.   Our work ranges from the assessment and quantification of ecosystem services to the role that disturbance plays in ecosystem function and biogeochemistry. We seek to provide relevant answers to how management affects ecosystem function while also investigating fundamental research questions related to ecosystem processes. We do this by collaborating with our sponsors in both the public and private sectors and colleagues at Virginia Tech and other colleges and universities. Through our work, we provide practical input for ecosystem management for our research sponsors while also examining important questions in ecosystem science facing society at large.
