Deirdre Conroy

Deirdre is an undergraduate at Virginia Tech who working with the Conservation Management Institute at Virginia Tech. Deirdre has been a passionate naturalist from a young age, but realized she had a keen interest in science and research when she worked as an intern in Olympic National Park during high school on a senior experience project. On this project, Deirdre took part in various aspects of the project, including plant transplanting, seine-netting, fawn capture, and spore collection. Deirdre went on to join the VPI Cave Club in her first semester at Virginia Tech, where she quickly earned her membership with the club and National Speleological Society, and joined the Vertical and Cave Rescue group of the Blacksburg Volunteer Rescue Squad. Deirdre is now working on gaining experience in field work related to caves, salamanders, and carnivores to best prepare her for higher education.
