The Conservation Management Institute at Virginia Tech (CMI), working with the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS), has provided the geospatial analysis for a multi-year study of Delaware wetland trends.  The final report, Delaware Wetlands: Status and Changes from 1992 to 2007, was recently published by DNREC in cooperation with the FWS’s National Wetlands Inventory (NWI) program and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

The report provides a summary of the current status of wetlands in the State of Delaware and an analysis of the trends in wetland gain and loss between 1992 and 2007.  The trend analysis also provides a perspective on how those changes affect wetland functions in Delaware.

The CMI would like to thank the FWS, DNREC, and EPA for funding support for their portion of the project.  Copies of the report can be obtained at www.dnrec.delaware.gov/Admin/DelawareWetlands or http://www.fws.gov/northeast/wetlands/ .
