Private Lands Biologist - Virginia

Amy Roberts is a native Virginian. She earned her BBA at University of Florida and University of North Florida in 1988, and her MS at Virginia Tech in 2007. She studied and modeled the habitat preferences of the eastern fence lizard for her graduate work. After college, Amy worked with bog turtles, hellbenders, freshwater mussels, and a host of other amphibians and reptiles in her positions with the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources. She also taught biology courses at both Radford University and New River Community College during much of this time. Amy is excited about her new position as a Private Lands Biologist focusing on hellbender conservation. As a hobby farm owner, she understands many of the needs and concerns of farmers and other landowners regarding conservation measures on private property.
